The 2025 Trinidad and Tobago Great Race brought thrilling competition across the Gulf of Paria as powerboats raced from Trinidad to Tobago — and TRACK Heatwave, sponsored by TRACK Batteries, emerged as one of the standout stories of the season.

For the annual 90-mile offshore challenge, calm seas and perfect conditions greeted competitors on August 16, 2025, but it was TRACK Heatwave’s performance that captured the spotlight. Piloted by the dynamic duo of throttleman Morgan Hannock and driver John Michael Sabga, the 80 mph E-Class contender thundered to a spectacular finish, becoming the first boat to reach Tobago in its class and setting a new E-Class record time in the process.

The team powered TRACK Heatwave across the course in 1 hour 15 minutes and 38 seconds, making it the fastest vessel to cross the finish line in the E-Class division — an achievement that signals both precision engineering and peak performance.

The Importance of Sponsorship: TRACK Batteries Power Innovation

TRACK Batteries’ sponsorship of TRACK Heatwave highlights the brand’s deep commitment to high-performance marine and power sports. Just as TRACK Batteries are engineered for reliability and endurance on the road, that same spirit of dependability and power was visible in the relentless pace and finish of Heatwave’s run. In extreme racing conditions, where every minute counts, this backing played a key role in ensuring the boat performed at the highest level throughout the grueling race.

A Win for the Team and T&T Powerboat Racing

The cheers from spectators in Store Bay, Tobago reflected the broader excitement around Heatwave’s achievement. Fans, fellow competitors, and race enthusiasts gathered along the shoreline to celebrate the skill, teamwork, and engineering that brought TRACK Heatwave to the forefront of this historic nautical event.

While TRACK Heatwave set an impressive pace in the E-Class, other classes also saw fierce competition — including record performances by other boats in the A-Class — adding to the spectacle of the Great Race. Across classes, the 2025 race reinforced Trinidad & Tobago’s position as a hub for top-tier offshore powerboat racing
