What is Brake & Clutch Fluid?
Brake and Clutch Fluid
Brake and clutch fluid is a special formulation of hydraulic fluid used in hydraulic brake and hydraulic clutch systems, as found in modern vehicles. This fluids are manufactured to withstand high temperatures and reduce moisture, which reduce the boiling point of the fluid, making it less functional.
It is used to transfer force and pressure, and to amplify braking force or movement of a clutch fork. Simply stated, when you apply your foot to the brake pedal, brake fluid transfers this force into pressure to the front and rear brakes, pushing against the piston in the caliper, which then pushes against the brake pads and stops the vehicle. It works because liquids are not compressible.
